ATLANTA, Ga.— On October 6, a group of more than a dozen sisters from Emory University and the University of Georgia participated in the Firefly Run, a 5K race held after dusk to benefit a local charity.
Participants were encouraged to dress in illuminating garb that included an array of neon-colored attire with glow-in-the-dark and/or lit-up accents. Events of the night also included a costume contest and live music.
More than 4,000 participants gathered in Midtown Atlanta to run the 3.1-mile course near Piedmont Park with proceeds donated to the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The Firefly run has races in Dallas, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, San Jose, Atlanta and Houston.
