The 2016 AFLV (Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values) Central Conference, which includes the National Black Greek Leadership Conference (NBGLC) and our own national midyear conference, will be held in Indianapolis, IN from Feb. 4-7.

AFLV holds a conference every year for members of the Greek community. The following councils that are represented at the conference are the North-American Interfraternity Conference (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council, National Panhellenic Conference, National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, and National Multicultural Greek Council. At this conference, members are given experiences that “challenge and encourage [members] to live ethical values and implement best practices.”

Attendees can be sure to be on the lookout for the NBGLC stroll competition, T-Shirt auction, AFLV party hop, the marketing and media showcase and more. Keynote speakers, such as Jessica Ekstrom, Lawrence Ross, Lori Hart will be in attendance.

Every year, sisters from every chapter attend AFLV. At this conference, sisters have the opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills, the ability to network with others, and bond with sisters from different chapters and other Greeks.

“AFLV is a great way to meet other members from your organization as well other organizations from your council and other councils,” Joann “Chronicle” Podoll from Alpha Chapter said about her past experience attending the conference. “There aren’t many other opportunities to see and learn about so many different people in one setting.”

One of the most important skills learned throughout this conference is the opportunity to expand your own leadership skills. Leadership skills can be applied to any job in any industry as one leaves their undergraduate career.

“I learned a lot about how my experience and time in Greek life can create a lot of leadership experiences that I can use after my time as an undergraduate,” Mary “Zenith” Ing, another Georgia sister, said about her experience. “Most of it was learning leadership skills by becoming a more effective leader.”

AFLV West Conference is another conference that caters to fraternal organizations in the western region of the United States. Here’s the national promotional video for 2016 AFLV Central and AFLV West:
