If you haven’t noticed by now, the season of pumpkins, Halloween and an overdue relief from summers blistering heat waves has arrived. As of Sept. 23, the autumn equinox (“the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s Equator – from north to south”) has once again initiated the beginning of fall.
For the U.S. population, fall is more than just a season for over-sized sweaters, counting down the days till Christmas or tuning into ABC Family’s “13 Nights of Halloween.” Fall welcomes nostalgic recipes and innovative fashion statements
As previously mentioned, fall is known for pumpkin. Without a doubt, it’s nearly impossible to go a day without seeing anything pumpkin related. Whether it’s lattes, donuts, pies, candles, makeup, lotion or the color of clothing, pumpkin is the star of this season. Just turn on the TV, open a magazine and your favorite app or stroll by any retail store.
Pumpkin may be the current fall trend, but fall is also jam-packed with memories of great dishes and ingredients like apples, caramel, robust tomatoes and roasted vegetables.
Two examples of classic fall recipes are pumpkin rolls and apple pie bites. Both recipes were submitted and suggested by two huge fans of fall, sisters Katie “Nitrous” Moua and Anna “Charme”Lam from Georgia State University.
The pumpkin cream cheese roll is a cake roll baked with cream cheese, nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon. Not only does this recipe sound delicious, but the cake roll takes less than 30 minutes to bake.
The apple pie bites are a spin-off of the classic apple pie, mini versions of an apple pie. This recipe is a quick dessert guaranteed to so satisfy anyone sweet tooth. For the complete recipes to these treats, visit the following links:
Now, let’s talk about fashion and makeup. Regardless of your fashion sense and or style, there is something special about fall fashion.
According to Elle Magazine, Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar, 2015’s biggest fall trends will be inspired by the ’70s. Flared pants, loafers, faux fur and boots will be the hottest trends this fall. The color trends are greys, blacks, browns and neons.
Makeup this fall will showcase bold lips, featuring reds, plums, and dark vampy colors. Other trends include soft blushes, metallic eye shadows and winged eyeliners. If you were ever a fan of “That 70’s show,” then this fall is the perfect time to rock outfits and bold makeup only found appropriate for Halloween.
This season is not only about spending time with your family or having the best Halloween costume you’ve ever had. Fall revives nostalgia through taste buds and choice of fashion.
