The Jade Times is asking sisters what are they looking forward to at the upcoming National Convention.

The National Convention’s goals are to encourage growth of Delta Phi Lambda’s everlasting sisterhood and foster the bond between sisters. During convention, both undergraduates and alumnae sisters will be engaging in team building and leadership workshops that can be beneficial while in college and after graduation. Delta Phi Lambda acknowledges that sisters’ main goals in school are to learn, graduate, and acquire employment. Therefore, individual sisters and chapters who go beyond their expected participation in the sorority will be recognized during the annual Convention Awards. Another event at this year’s Convention is the Stroll and Step Competition, open to the first twelve chapters that register. The winners will take the title “Stroll of the Year” and receive a monetary discount from sorority dues in the fall.

What are you most excited about for Convention?

“I’m most excited about representing out chapter to everyone and showing them our successes and hard work towards the sorority.” – Houa “Manifesto” Vang

“I am excited for the workshops National Board holds for us! I believe these help us grow as sisters and as a chapter to make sure we are trying to be a tight knit chapter.” – Yasmin “Solana” DeAnda

“I am excited about potentially becoming an active status chapter and alumna prizes.” – Jasmine “Werifesteria” Au

What do you hope to attain while at Convention?

“Not only myself but my chapter as well hope to obtain letter status.” – Houa “Manifesto” Vang

“I hope to attain knowledge in how to be a stronger chapter.” – Yasmin “Solana” DeAnda

“As an alumna, I hope to connect with other alumna and learn about what I can contribute to the sorority. I know my role as a sister will change since I’m not an undergraduate so learning about what I can do for my chapter outside of school would be ideal, especially since I’m chapter advisor now.” – Jasmine “Werifesteria” Au

Anything else in particular you look forward to at Convention?

“I’m excited to see my biggie.” – Houa “Manifesto” Vang

“So far I have not seen the convention itinerary but I am very excited to see how other chapters are growing and to see ISU go for active status!” – Yasmin “Solana” DeAnda

“Although I don’t plan to be involved with National Board just yet, I am definitely interested in learning about contributions to the sorority beyond my home chapter. Perhaps after fulfilling my chapter advisor role, I might join National Board.” – Jasmine “Werifesteria’” Au
