Each spring, the chapters of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. host a 3 C’s Week. 3 C’s Week consists of activities that focus on collaboration, cooperation, and celebration. The purpose of 3 C’s Week is to unite all chapters and communities through Delta Phi Lambda’s mission and celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Here is a list of events hosted by chapters nationwide:

COLLABORATION

Managing and Addressing Micro-aggression: Tools and Strategies

March 12

Joined by licensed psychologist Dr. Hsiao-Wen Lo, Iota Chapter addressed microaggressions and their impact on our society. Individuals learned how to effectively manage microaggressions in a way that will advance social justice.

Osteoporosis Banquet

March 31

Did you know that Asian-American women have a higher chance of developing osteoporosis in the future? This event brought awareness to osteoporosis and how it can be prevented.

Gook Screening with GSU National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

April 4

A screening of the film “Gook” was featured, which focuses on the Asian and African American tension during the Los Angeles riots in 1992. A discussion on minority relationships followed.

Human Trafficking in the State of Michigan

With the help of Dr. Tonisha Jones’ research on human sex trafficking, attendees learned how to be more aware of signs of human trafficking and how to prevent it from occurring and getting help when encountering the situation.

Our celebration event for our 3 C’s Week was held at Clemson Y-Beach. We rented out canoes and kayaks from Clemson Recreation Services and was on the water from 5 to 7 p.m.. These activities are low impact exercises that help strengthen bones without causing potential damage.
